Crushed Optimists

We are twin brothers who grew up in Central Washington. This blog is devoted to the life of Seattle sports fans, as well as various other topics that we will espouse for your enjoyment. We could be called another OFFICIAL SEATTLE SEAHAWKS site, but we'll take our uneducated crack at the Mariners, Sonics, and Huskies as well. A Seattle Sports Blog? Must be the land... of crushed optimism!

Why Eddie Guardado Sucks

I am extremely pissed off right now at one Eddie Guardado and am sick and tired of watching his crap every other day. We could just look at his terrible ERA, but since ERA is a bad predictor, especially of a reliever early in the year, it's more "fun" to look at his appearances this year.

4/4 LAA 3 H, 1 BB, 1 HR, 3 ER, 1 SO
4/8 OAK 0 H, 1 SO
4/12 CLE 3 H, 1 SO, 1 ER
4/15 BOS 1 BB, 0 H
4/17 BOS 2 H, 2 SO, 1 HR, 2 ER (Bellhorn walk-off)
4/20 TEX 4 BB, 1 ER (Bobby Ayala game)
4/24 CHI 2 H, 1 SO, 1 HR, 1 ER
4/29 BAL 2 H, 1 BB, 1 SO
4/30 BAL 1 H, 1 SO
5/3 CHI 1 H, 2 SO, 1 HR, 1 ER

What are we noticing here? In 11 appearances, Everyday Eddie Guardado has had exactly ONE easy inning where he faced the minimum. In 11 appearances, he has 3 blown saves (pretty huge for a team that's 12-16. This is really mediocre, people. This is flat out awful, and on a team with terrific talent in JJ Putz and Rafael Soriano it is almost inexcusable to stick with Eddie. He has nothing left and I'm sick of watching him ruin comebacks like tonight.

And for ever K he gives up a walk or a HR. I could got out there and suck even worse than that (for cheaper) if they want to lose games.

I could also proof-read my comments so they have less spelling mistakes.
