Crushed Optimists

We are twin brothers who grew up in Central Washington. This blog is devoted to the life of Seattle sports fans, as well as various other topics that we will espouse for your enjoyment. We could be called another OFFICIAL SEATTLE SEAHAWKS site, but we'll take our uneducated crack at the Mariners, Sonics, and Huskies as well. A Seattle Sports Blog? Must be the land... of crushed optimism!

Tuesday Thoughts

I think I need to come up with a snappier title for posts like this, with a random assortment of articles and thoughts. Something like "Meaty Tidbits" or "Ultimate Explosion".

On to today's Explosion...

- Every week I read the M's Farm Report and every week I get upset I'm not seeing Jose Lopez play every day. Would we please, for the love of all that's holy, call the man up and let him play every day?

- Jeff Clement is starting to hit well... still like this pick. Could be tremendous in Safeco. Speaking of other catchers, doesn't a platoon of Clement and Rene Rivera sound awesome in the future?

- Yorman Bazardo is impressing at AA, except he still isn't striking enough men out. That has to be worrisome. Same deal with Bobby Livingston. Don't we have enough "control artists" on this staff already? That's why I want Kevin Millwood (first time I've written that, but it's true). Millwood in '06!

- Someone needs to hit Bob Finnigan with a baseball bat for writing this pile of garbage about Matt Thornton. He's 29 and sucks. Quit treating him like a 23 year old rookie. Bryan Price calls his season filled with "clusters of success". I call it filled with "clusters of crap".

- I'm down on the Eagles this year, mainly due to their receiver shortcomings. This article illustrates it extremely well... the loss of Freddie Mitchell and Todd Pinkston is going to be difficult to overcome.

- Rob Neyer has gotten a little annoying as the year's have gone by, but anyone who is willing to point out that Darin Erstad is a mediocre first baseman by anyone's standards deserves a link. Please note that Erstad ranks as low as he does in AL first basemen in a very bad year for AL first basemen.

- Lastly, a fluff piece on the Texas Longhorns. I have a friend at work who has a Longhorn blog and is a rabid fan. He's upset at all of the hoopla, because they haven't beaten OU yet. I agree. Texas always as talent (Chris Simms, anyone?), but always seems to lose two games they should win. They need to prove it before I believe it.
