Crushed Optimists

We are twin brothers who grew up in Central Washington. This blog is devoted to the life of Seattle sports fans, as well as various other topics that we will espouse for your enjoyment. We could be called another OFFICIAL SEATTLE SEAHAWKS site, but we'll take our uneducated crack at the Mariners, Sonics, and Huskies as well. A Seattle Sports Blog? Must be the land... of crushed optimism!

What A Series!!!

Best series win for the Mariners this season. Hands down. They were facing the top three pitchers in home ERA in the NL in Beckett, Willis, and Moehler. All three pitchers had an ERA under 3. The Mariners were countering with Franklin, Meche, and Sele, none of whom will come within sniffing distance of the All-Star game. Gavin and I will have much more to say about this tomorrow. Just an outstanding win. For me, the high point of the season so far.

Next up... at Washington

Friday: Piniero (2-3, 6.55 ERA) vs. Ohka (4-3, 3.33 ERA)
Saturday: Moyer (5-2, 5.21 ERA) vs. Patterson (2-1, 2.70 ERA)
Sunday: Franklin (2-7, 4.77 ERA) vs. Armas (2-3, 4.91 ERA)

Can we take another series against NL teams? 4-2 so far in interleague play....

Update: The Nationals have just traded Ohka, who angered Frank Robinson by turning his back on him last start. Instead, the Mariners will face Sun-Woo Kim (1-0, only has pitched 4.1 innings this season).
