Crushed Optimists

We are twin brothers who grew up in Central Washington. This blog is devoted to the life of Seattle sports fans, as well as various other topics that we will espouse for your enjoyment. We could be called another OFFICIAL SEATTLE SEAHAWKS site, but we'll take our uneducated crack at the Mariners, Sonics, and Huskies as well. A Seattle Sports Blog? Must be the land... of crushed optimism!

Give Ron Villone More Work

Ron Villone was an impressive force during the game yesterday, especially in the eighth inning. The Angels had the momentum on their side after holding us scoreless with the bases loaded in the top of the inning. How many times do we see a team score in that situation? The fans were rocking, and I think the Angels were expecting to take the lead. Then Ron Villone came out, threw strikes, got two fantastic strikeouts, inning over. I was impressed, and I'm not much of a Ron Villone fan. One of the reasons our bullpen was so successful with Arthur Rhodes was exactly the role Villone played... throw an inning of lefty relief against a lefty-heavy lineup. Hopefully Hargrove payed attention and will use him for more than one batter in the future.
