Crushed Optimists

We are twin brothers who grew up in Central Washington. This blog is devoted to the life of Seattle sports fans, as well as various other topics that we will espouse for your enjoyment. We could be called another OFFICIAL SEATTLE SEAHAWKS site, but we'll take our uneducated crack at the Mariners, Sonics, and Huskies as well. A Seattle Sports Blog? Must be the land... of crushed optimism!

Draft Talk

I might actually buckle down and do a Fantasy Draft myself here in the next couple of days... until then, here are a couple of experts (John Clayton and Len Pasquarelli) saying the exact same things I've been spouting. This draft is weak at the top, but deep, and very difficult to project. I don't think it matters the order of drafting between six and twenty, because of the relative parity of players in that span. There just isn't much in the way of separation. Teams are talking in terms of needs, not in terms of players. This is why what the Hawks did with Sharper was so important... we could not get an impact player through the draft, even with trading up. Sharper was our first round draft pick. I'm not sure why Alex Smith is jumping out over Aaron Rodgers... obviously people weren't paying attention to how Rodgers picked USC's defense apart in a record-setting performance at USC. Frankly, I would be very wary of giving that type of pick to a mid-major quarterback. You could get a Ben Roethlisberger, yes, but you could also get a Tim Couch. That's my two cents.
